Lockport, New York: New York Beer Project

Admittedly, I had absolutely zero idea that New York Beer Project existed. I mean, granted I haven't lived long-term at home since 2013 and just turned 21 a little over six months ago, so it's okay that I didn't know NYBP existed, I guess. My family and I went over the weekend to celebrate my cousin's birthday and I was really shocked that a place this cool existed in Western New York. It reminded me a bit of the Wild Eagle Saloon in Downtown Cleveland, what with its focus on beer and the games spread around the second floor. More on that in a bit!

NYBP is a gastropub (which I'm assuming does not have anything to do with your gastrointestinal system, but I could be wrong), taproom, and brewery. Okay, a quick Google search informed me a little bit more on what a gastropub is. I still have a fun of inflatable question marks over my head, but apparently it's a bar and restaurant that serves high-end beer and food. Very bougie.

The entire place has a New York City theme, from the subway line letters and number used throughout, signs for Grand Central Station, framed photos of NYC, and plenty more to give off vibes of the big city across the state. When you walk in the main doors in the front, there's a seating area where you can dine, as well as a massive bar in the center of the room. If you continue past the bar, it leads into yet another bar and the area where bands can perform. I believe that's the brewery section of NYBP, but I could be wrong. Regardless, you walk through this area to get to the stairs that lead to the second floor. Up there is more seating that overlooks both the bar and the brewery area. There's a massive Jenga game, Connect Four, corn hole, and some other contraption that I still could not figure out by the end of the night.

This would be such a cool place to go with a group of friends on the weekend in lieu of going out clubbing in downtown Buffalo. It had a really chill vibe!

Where: 6933 Transit Road, Lockport, NY 14094
What: Unique beers and craft food
