The One With The Car Ride & No Seafood

Honestly, a majority of today was spent crammed into the backseat of the Jeep with my brother while we made the trek to the Cape. I admittedly had my headphones in the entire time and pretty much just listened to John Mayer's entire discography, mixed in with some Ryn Weaver, Bleachers and Everything in Transit by Jack's Mannequin, which I think I have decided is my favorite album of all time.

During this time, I might have accidentally read two of the three books that I packed. I blew through Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell in about a seven hour period and I have never been more proud of myself. Now, I'm left with one book and three magazines and I'm curious to see if I have to pick up anything else to entertain me on the car ride back. I'll play it by ear, I think, but I thoroughly enjoyed both of the books I read yesterday!

As soon as we got to the hotel in Cape Cod, we checked in, changed and set out straight for a seafood place for dinner. Now, if there's one thing that you need to know about me, it's that I am very, very picky. I don't like very many foods and I have a very (very) refined palette. So, seafood...not my thing. At all. So yes, I was the person who ordered steak at a seafood restaurant while my family enjoyed lobster and clam chowders and lobster rolls and fish tacos. I'm such an embarrassment.

We went to a place called The Lobster Trap for dinner and it was killer, honestly. Even the seafood smelled good and I'm–say it with me–super picky. I just got steak tips on a bed of some sort of ginger rice. I also stole both french fries and onion rings from my brother and father because they got appetizers and I didn't. It was only fair, right?

Since we'd been in the car all day and wanted to do a little bit of exploring, we followed a main street up to this weird bridge fixture that we saw in the distance and found fascinating. It was on the water and had a nice walking path filled with those more active than I...and dogs. Lots of dogs.

It was a really pretty night! It wasn't unbearably hot. It actually was a bit chilly, for me in just my sundress, but it was oddly refreshing after such a long streak of heat back at home. We followed up dinner with ice cream, of course. We can't resist a good ice cream stand. I will not confirm nor deny whether I got a cone with sprinkles despite not eating cones and not enjoying sprinkles just for the picture...BUTLOOKHOWNICEITMATCHES!

We don't have a lot actually planned for this trip, so who knows what the rest of the week will bring us! We had a pretty chill first day, mostly because a majority of it was spent in the car! I guess we'll see what other shenanigans my family and I get up to later...
