A Glimpse of Spring

For a brief moment last week, it was, indeed, warm enough to wear this outfit. Now, I will admit, it was cold down by the water so the goosebumps might have slightly appeared, but for the most part, this outfit was shockingly weather appropriate. Bare legs? In February? I would say it's almost unheard of, but I've grown up with east coast–and more specifically, Great Lakes–weather my entire life and this is pretty normal. In February, we get a few unseasonably warm days before snow is dumped upon us again and our winters continue well into April. I'm used to it by now, I know the drill.

I wanted to take advantage of this sunny and kind of warm (my idea of warm is vastly different than warm to somebody from, say, Southern California or the southern United States) day, but all of my spring clothes are in storage. Because, of course, it's still technically winter. I won't need that stuff for many, many months. So I made do with what was actually in my closet and tried my best so my legs could see a little bit of sun. Don't be fooled by the lighting and slight editing, I am as pale as pale can get. You know the lightest shade in the foundation ranges? That's me. Second lightest if it's a slightly larger shade range.

This post would have had a focus if spring hadn't already disappeared. I think in a couple of weeks when I actually sit down and think of actual "advice," there's going to be some sort of post on this blog about taking your winter wardrobe into spring. Because let's be real: it's still going to be chilly and who has the time or money to have two separate seasonal wardrobes? I guess that's the ~#goal~ right? So stay tuned for that!

A sneak peek at what the post could end up being is the easiest tip ever of layering. Seriously, just layer. This denim dress is kind of boring on its own, but I like to throw this blush pink oversized sweater over it to warm me up and add a bit of color to the look. Throw on a pair of coordinating (okay, they don't have to be coordinated, I just chose to follow this path) boots in a spring shade to keep your toes warm and add some more color. That's the whole point of spring, right? To try to inject some more color into your wardrobe through all of those fun pastel shades and multi-colored florals?

There's a good chance you're still going to catch me in all neutrals this spring, but hey, I'm wearing pink in this post so never say never, right?

Did anyone else get a little hint of spring in the past couple of weeks? I think it's supposed to snow again the next couple of days, so my bare legs are going to have to wait a bit longer to see the sun again.

  1. What a great Winter to Spring transition look! I agree that layering is key! I enjoy the short bout of warm weather we had recently (although we did get snow last night). I love the sweater!
