Look As Good As You Feel

I feel like you always remember your firsts. First concert, first kiss, first love, first time you dyed your hair, first anything really. It's such a funny concept that drudges up memories and brings on the nostalgia. My first, in this case, is the first brand I ever worked with on this blog. Let's take a trip back to winter of 2015. While I'd had my blog for over two years at that point, I'd only been blogging daily and taking it "seriously" for about eight or nine months. I got an e-mail from eShakti asking to collaborate and I think there might have been tears. I can't remember for certain, but you know how I am, so there most likely was. Since then, I've worked with them quite a few more times because it's just a company with good products and there's a special place in my heart for them.

If you're unfamiliar with eShakti, here's the low-down. They carry sizes 0-36W and the entirety of their clothing selection is customizable. This means sleeve lengths, hem length, collar style, even the addition (or subtraction) of pockets. But, beyond these customizations, you can also order items custom sized to your exact measurements if you don't wear a straight size. So basically, you can get an item made just for you that will make you feel good.

"Look As Good As You Feel, Feel As Good As You Look" was the mantra for this campaign. I don't know about you, but I relate to both of those statements on any given day. There are times where my mood is skyrocketing and I feel like I'm on cloud nine. On those days, I don't want to be cooped up in the house in my college sweatpants and a band t-shirt I've had for a decade too long, I want to be out and about in my best outfit. I want my outward appearance to reflect how I'm feeling on the inside! And then there are other days where my feet feel like they're dragging behind me, but I try to play the fake it 'til you make it game and try to dress my best and hope that my mood follows in its steps.

Really, it just comes down to wanting to feel good on the inside. We've all had those moments where our outfit somehow affects your mood. You were rushing in the morning or it seemed like a good choice when you left the house. Then, you get to wherever you had to go and feel uncomfortable and not like yourself.

I chose to get this denim shift dress because we all know my affinity for denim. I also have a severe lack of dresses for this season in my closet. Sure, this one is sleeveless, but when has that ever stopped me from layering my trusty black turtleneck on underneath? After I shot this look with my mom and subsequently froze (for background, I usually shoot around 150-180 photos for a normal post and there were 353 photos for this outfit), we were discussing all of the possibilities for this dress outside of the winter time. I see it with t-shirts underneath for spring, sleeveless for summer with a pair of heeled sandals.

Since I use straight sizing from eShakti for garments like this, I just ordered this in my normal size and it fit perfectly. In all of my past orders from the site, I always have pockets added to my garments. But, this one came with those two large pockets already so I could skip one step in my customization. For this one, I just cropped that length to a mini dress because I find that it's the most flattering for my body shape and leg length! In the future, though, especially for garments that aren't as forgiving and loose, I would most likely have to take advantage of custom sizing because of the differences in the size of my chest, waist, and hips as well as the fact that I have insanely broad shoulders (I wasn't a swimmer though, go figure) and slightly larger arms (I blame softball pitching, sigh).

As I was scrolling through the website, I think I cried a little at all of the gorgeous prints that are now featured. If you're trying to add a little bit of color into your life, you'd be looking in the right place. I'm a little high-key obsessed with this heart printed maxi dress. I would even consider making it long sleeved too and maybe cropping the length to a mini length or even a midi dress that would hit me mid-calf. If I was going anywhere fun for spring break, this hornbill printed dress might have to go with me. Honestly, I would wear it even if I wasn't anywhere fun and tropical. I think it'd just put me in the mood just knowing it was on my body.

    1. Sometimes if I'm just having a bad mental day, I always find that getting dressed in my favorite outfit or doing my makeup really nice at least makes me feel a little better. And thank you! The pockets made it for me, 100%.
