Friday I'm In Love (With Some New Stuff)

Long time no see! Well, not really. I've still been posting, but there has been a severe lack of my weekly favorites posts around these parts. I've missed them quite dearly if I'm being honest. Am I even going to be able to fit these favorites into a whole post without it becoming a novel? Definitely not. So let's begin!

1. California

It's absolutely no surprise that I loved California. I wrote far too many posts detailing my entire trip and don't want to bore you with any more details. I couldn't have asked for better weather, food, or friends to have spent my first time in California and further west than Chicago.

2. Flicker by Niall Horan

I have no words to describe my love for this man and his debut album. I've been bopping too much to "This Town," "Slow Hands," and "Too Much To Ask" that I've been waiting very impatiently for this full album to drop. As expected from Niall, it's very folksy, has its own Eagles meets Fleetwood Mac vibes, and is just his persona wrapped up into one album. He's said in interviews if he had to sum this album up in one word, he'd say it was "personal." All I want to know is...WHO HURT YOU, NIALL?!?! If you've liked the singles he's released so far and want to feel like

To listen to: Literally the whole album. It's only ten more songs if you don't count the singles. It's 47 minutes of pure gold.

3. The Butcher's Daughter

This has been on my radar for quite a while now so I finally had a chance to check it out when I went to lunch with my friend a few days ago. First thing, it was the most gorgeous day outside and I couldn't have asked for better weather to sit on a patio and have good cold brew and conversation with a pal. I really liked the atmosphere of the place. It was really relaxed, conversational, and bright. Plus, I'm for sure a sucker of restaurants that have mint in their water and offer really adorable straws (mine had tiny avocados on it!).

I ordered a cold brew which was delicious. I didn't even have to add milk to it, only a little bit of sugar. That says a lot about a coffee! Also, in true Francesca fashion, I ordered the Smashed Avocado Toast because I cannot resist avocado toast, okay? I just cannot. If I see it on the menu, there is a 200% chance that I will order it for breakfast, brunch, or regular lunch. I was super surprised that this came with two pieces of toast, not one, which had my belly stuffed for the entire day.

4. NYX Professional Makeup Epic Ink Eyeliner

Remember how I swore I would never find a drugstore eyeliner–or really any eyeliner–that could compare to my Kat Von D Tattoo Liner? Well. I think I might have found a cheaper alternative that somewhat comes close. Nothing will ever fully replace my Kat Von D liner and I will always repurchase when a tube runs out. However, this has been the only drugstore liner that I've ever been able to wing out thick and precise. I can get a pretty sharp tip with this eyeliner, one very similar to the cat eye that I can only accomplish with the Kat Von D liner. The only difference with this one I'd say is that it's a little more liquidy and the brush tip isn't as sturdy, so it's harder to get it to be mega precise, especially in the inner corner. If you're in the market for an affordable, pigmented, long-lasting, and precise liquid eyeliner though, check this one out!

5. "Bedroom Floor" by Liam Payne

Liam Payne is my heart and soul in the universe. I'm still bopping to "Strip That Down" and "Get Low" on the daily. I've been waiting for "Bedroom Floor" to release since he teased about its existence in an interview, saying that it was originally supposed to be the first single and that it kept getting pushed back. I'm fairly certain it's taken him this long to release it because "Strip That Down" has been continuously doing well on the radio since it's released, even stealing the #1 spot away from his bandmate Niall. Anyways, Liam is back in action with this absolute bop of a song. I cannot even describe my love for it. It's kind of tropical meets techno all combined with Liam's sweet, sweet falsetto. I really wish I had this song to listen to with my windows down over the summer, but it's fine, I forgive his team.

6. Matcha Croissant from Cha Cha Matcha

I finally went to Cha Cha Matcha this past week and it was well worth the wait both to finally go and wait in line. I went to the Chelsea location because it's not far from where I've been staying. I loved all of the pink interiors and literally everyone was so nice there. Big fan of their customer service. Anyways! I got a matcha latte with coconut milk, but I also had to get a pastry of some sort. I ended up getting the matcha croissant, not really knowing what to expect. And god, was it glorious. I took it back to the apartment to eat and ended up sitting on the fire escape munching on it. And by munching, I mean I was practically inhaling it the entire time because it was so god damn delicious. It had some sort of matcha cream filling that was sweet without being overwhelming sugary. I could eat an entire half dozen of these in a short period of time and would probably only hate myself a tiny bit.
