Things I'm Loving

1. Selfie

This show originally debuted for a short period of time from September 2014 to December 2014. Selfie was a modern day adaptation of My Fair Lady (which I just discovered). I remember this show being on during my sophomore year of college because my mom would talk about it from time to time, but I didn't have time to watch it, especially without DVR. I was scrolling through Hulu the other day and I saw that this show was up and I decided that it was time to finally see Karen Gillan and John Cho in action.

The name of the show is stupid. The first episode wasn't great. But I think this show got canceled too soon. Or maybe it was just too early for its time. It follows Eliza Dooley (Gillan), an internet famous star who has a huge online following on social media. She enlists the help of Henry Higgins (John Cho) to help "fix" her reputation after an embarrassing encounter on an airplane with her co-workers and the realization that just because she has a following online, doesn't mean she has friends in real life.

If this show came out today, I think that it would've done much better with a different title. It was cute, funny and once you got a few episodes into the half-season, you just wanted more. I finished it in two days, I think? Regardless, it only lasted half a season before it subsequently got canceled. If you want a quick and easy watch, try out Selfie on Hulu. You might get mad that it got canceled, but at least there are 13 episodes to enjoy!

2. "Waves" by Miguel

I first heard this song because the remix featuring Kacey Musgraves appeared on one of my Discovery Weekly playlists on Spotify. Little did I know that the original version of the song was even better than the remix that I had heard. I just think it's a fun song with a great beat (ugh, could I be any more generic?) that makes me strut a bit when I walk.

3. Nasty Woman shirt

Yep, I finally got my hand on one. I saw the link on a Twitter thread and saw that 50% of the proceeds went to Planned Parenthood. It was a no-brainer for me. There's a few other Nasty Woman related articles on the online shop, but I decided to go with the unisex t-shirt (printed on American Apparel shirts, so you know they're going to be soft).
