The Skort, Fashion's Spork

Don't you ever just casually sit on the steps of a library and pretend to be reading for the sake of a blog photo? Truth be told, I read this book last year but I thought it looked cute with my outfit as an accessory. If you can't afford a Kate Spade or Olympia Le Tan book clutch, then why don't you just use the real thing?

This is a rare post in which I don't ramble about my real life (well, maybe just a little bit) and instead talk about a piece of fashion that is giving me absolute life right now. That's right y'all, let's chat about the skort. Or as I probably inappropriately pegged it in today's post title...fashion's spork.

Guys, I'm feeling like a high schooler again. I swear I wore this exact same thing for three years straight before dress code kicked in and wanted no part of it. It gave my weird wedgies, it was too long and too kilt like and also...no teenager actually likes their uniform. A black skort that you had to roll up to give it any sort of fit and flare and a truly heinous white polo? Hard pass.

But in the great year of 2018, I'm wearing basically the same thing. Just, you know, a little different.

I bought this during the Zara sale in an attempt to find something I could wear to work so I wouldn't completely roast my ass off during this godforsaken summer that we're currently having. And as I do with many new purchases, I fell a little too much in love with it. How could you not? First thing, it was like...less than $20. A steal in my book for something that has not done me any wrong since I've owned it. Unlike my uniform skort, this one is basically a skirt in the front and shorts in the back, so that's my type of fashion mullet. The tri-button detail down the side just adds a little somethin' somethin' to the skirt so I can feel fine just wearing it with a white t-shirt during this time of year.

Guys, I've worn this skort a lot. I've worn it to work, to get groceries, on dates, on casual days where I wander the city. It's done me well since it came into my life a couple of months ago and I never want to let it go. Cut to my trying to desperately style this for fall so I can extend my love affair with my spork skort.
