The Reality Behind a Weekend Back Home

I'm currently covered in bruises and am sore head to toe. Before you ask, I'm totally fine. I did this to myself. How, you might ask? Well, the easiest way for me to explain that to anyone is through the song "Dancing Queen" by ABBA. I went home this past week for my cousin's wedding, which was destined to be one big dance party since day one. It's just in my family's blood!

I had a weekend–well, part of a weekend but it only felt like a weekend–back at home for some family stuff and it was...not relaxing in the slightest. Is it possible that a trip home could be more stressful than my day to day life in New York City? Not that I'm complaining, but I would have liked to get more sleep and cuddle with my dogs more...

Everything went by in a whirlwind and I wonder if I actually even went home? That's a lie, I know that I did because I have vivid memories of the 11-hour bus trip I got stuck on yesterday. Well, not vivid, because that would have required me to have actually done something on the bus instead of just sitting there and staring at the grassy abyss that is New York State. Note to self: next time, book your trip farther in advance so you can get a plane ticket. I think I'm just getting too old for buses. But, not to play devil's advocate, I did have another book I could have read but chose not to. Then again, in my defense, the outlets at my seat were not working so I was working with a limited battery life on my phone and both computers.

In conclusion, I am exhausted, which is why this blog post is going to be one of my suckiest in a while. I'm lucky that my eyeliner wings are somewhat (strong emphasis on the somewhat) even today because I think I might just be a shell of a human being right now. Maybe I'll catch up on sleep this weekend? I'm honestly salivating over the thought of getting home on Friday after work and just passing the hell out on my bed (after I remove all of my makeup, of course).

Dare to dream, am I right my dudes?

Honestly, what's the point of blog photos if I don't show the bloopers? Getting off of this dock was a feat, I tell you. Not pictured are the dozen other photos of me in the same compromising position trying to get my life back on track and off that fucking dock. Did I mention that I hate water?

What did you do for the Fourth of July? Or, to my non-American peeps, how was your Wednesday?

  1. I never feel rested or relaxed when I take a trip home so I totally relate to this post.
I also am OBSESSED with the way that those shorts fit you. Just saying.
Sending you good Monday vibes, girlfriend!

    1. It can definitely be a bit much! There's always something going on (in this case a wedding I was in on top of having to work remotely too!) and so many people to see. I guess that's just something you gotta deal with when you decide to move away hahaha.
But also thank you!!!! I'm so so happy I splurged a bit and got them, they're a new wardrobe staple for sure. <3

  2. Wow, sounds like a fun weekend home! Shame you weren't able to come back home well rested but I think that most of my vacations, whether it's going back home or going elsewhere, requires another vacation when I get back to recover from the vacation.
I really love this cute simple look! Those shorts look like they were made for you!

    1. Hey, such is life! Having a fun weekend and nice visit and being well-rested just wasn't in the cards, so I'd rather have the former. Thank you though! Gotta keep it simple in this hot hot heat & those shorts were overpriced but are clearly serving me well so I can't complain hehehe.
