What I Normally Wear to Work

Since I'm getting dressed five days a week now–which is not something I did at home unless getting dressed counts as changing out of my pajama shirt into a different pajama shirt while wearing the same sweatpants I slept in–it only seemed fit to show you little snaps of what I end up wearing to work on a daily basis. There's no dress code, so it's mainly just a free for all in my brain when it comes down to deciding what the hell I'm going to put on my body in the morning. I flucuate between wanting to look like I'm actually going to work and wanting to be so comfortable that people will wonder if I'm just a strange art student who has wandered away from campus searching for their muse.

For my Monday look a couple of weeks ago, I went for comfortable and casual while also still looking somewhat like a human. I tend to go for more relaxed and simple looks on Mondays and Fridays because I'm usually the most tired, but I was meeting a friend (hi Emily!) for dinner and wanted to be dressed a little bit cuter than how I would normally roll up to the office looking like on a Monday morning at 9am.

This is about as "edgy" as my style will go, but I really did love this outfit. I felt pretty "cool" in it (what the fuck does that word even mean?!) and thought it matched the ugly ass gritty wall behind me. This skirt is technically too big on me so I walked around weird all day but you gotta do what you gotta do for an outfit's aesthetics, am I right?

Shirt: Forever21
Skirt: ASOS

Sunglasses: Quay
Jacket: Old, stolen from my parents

I can't stop wearing these Old Navy jeans and it's becoming an actual issue. This is more on par for what I wear on a normal day in the office: lightwash jeans, some kind of t-shirt, and then a pair of heeled sandals. It's a good combination of casual and comfortable and makes me feel like I fit in kind of when I walk around SoHo surrounded by the fabulously dressed shoppers.

This is definitely on the "dressier" side for me when it comes to office attire. It was really warm this day so I wanted to be as comfortable and breezy as possible. Why not double up on the ruffles, right? The same mules make another appearance because they're my most comfortable pair of shoes in my closet, which sounds fake because of the 3" heel but I am not lying. Bless you, Nine West. You never let me down when it comes to comfort!

  1. I love all the outfits! I work in politics and advocacy so I have a stricter dress code at work. I'm so jealous of my friends who can wear anything! More room for outfit creativity!

    1. I am just so not a business-y wardrobe person so I was hella relieved when I realized my office was very lax with their policy. You always look super cute in the outfit photos you take in your work clothes though! :)
