Trends I Love (And Am Probably Behind On): Layering With Turtlenecks

About 80% of the time, I am behind on the trends, holding onto fads from last season. I can't help it. I'm perpetually late to everything, trends included. I don't even know if the trend I'm talking about today could even be classified as a trend or just something that I saw on a few fashion blogs once. All I know is that if it gives me a way to repurpose a turtleneck, I'm in.

One of my favorite ways to wear a turtleneck other than just, you know, wearing a turtleneck is to use it as a layering piece. It gets pretty cold here during the winter and sometimes one sweater just doesn't cut it. Sometimes you just have to buckle up and put on double the sweaters to keep the winter air from chilling you right down to your bones. For me, the best way to do this is to choose one of my plain turtlenecks in my closet and find anything and everything that could possibly layer on top of it.

After trial and error, I found that my all time favorite way to ensure my warmth during the winter through layering is to choose a plain varsity v-neck sweater and putting it on top of the turtleneck of choice. I've worn it quite a few times during this past winter, most recently in this Instagram post.

It's a really simple way to stay warm and add a little extra something-something to your outfit. If you favor turtlenecks during this time of year like I do (I refuse to let them go, I refuse), test out using them as layering pieces for a new take on some of your favorite outfits!
