Eyeshadow Palette Collection

For someone who talks about how infrequently she switches up her eye look and experiments with various colors, I own a fair bit of eyeshadow palettes. I used to be more into eyeshadow, then I fell out of love with it. In order to compensate for that, I think I went a little eyeshadow palette crazy in the recent months and now I think I might have too many. Though, I suppose that's all relative. There are probably people who have many more than me, which is what I say to make myself feel better about all of the money that I've spent on these palettes over the years.

My first eyeshadow palette ever was the Too Faced Natural Eye palette. Mine is so old that it's the old bulky cardboard packaging rather than the new, sleek metal tins. This palette comes with nine shades, six shimmers and three matte shades. It's fairly similar to the Urban Decay Naked Palette, sans the blue and grey shades. I never got much use out of this palette, aside from the three matte shades at the top. I don't know why I don't reach for it often, but it's just not a favorite of mine. I still keep it around for the "Day" shades, but other than that, this palette pretty much just sits idly in my drawer.

The second palette I ever owned was the Urban Decay Naked Palette. It's so cliche to say, but if I had to keep one palette over any other palette, it would definitely have to be this one. It just has the perfect selection of shades in it and the matte shades are incredible. Plus, Sin is my all time favorite shadow and pairs so nicely with the shades Naked and Buck. I pretty much ignore the shades Creep and Gunmetal just because I don't think blue shades suit me, but using 10 out of the 12 shadows seems like a fair ratio to me!

The next two Urban Decay Palettes I will mention only briefly are the Skull Shadow palette and Sustainable Shadow Box palette. I don't think I ever use these palettes or ever have, either. The only colors I use in the Skull Shadow palette are Oil Slick (to set my eyeliner) and very occasionally I remember that I own this and might wear the combination of Bluny, Chopper and Twice Baked or attempt to work with the glittery mess that is Midnight Cowboy Rides Again. Other than those, this palette is essentially useless to me and I use it a few times a year, maybe. I use my Sustainable Shadow Box palette even more infrequently. I hate the packaging so much that I often forget I own it purposefully just so I don't have to deal with it. I love the shade YDK but the palette is such a fuss that I don't reach for it. There's about four wearable shades in the palette and the rest are random colors that just don't serve any purpose for me. I used to like wearing the colorful shades on my bottom lash line when I was a teenager, but now that I don't do that, it just sits in my drawer.

Speaking of palettes I forget to use, I have the Aqualillies for Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eye and Cheek Palette. It comes with a highlighter, bronzer, blush and six eyeshadow colors. There's nothing wrong with the colors. I just tend to not reach for it very often for whatever reason and I think it was probably a pretty dumb purchase on my part.

Moving onto more recent palette purchases, my second favorite palette of all time is definitely the Lorac Pro palette. I finally purchased it at some point last year and honestly, what a great decision. It has an amazing combination of matte and shimmery satin shades that makes it really easy to travel with. I can even fill in my eyebrows with a couple of the shades, which makes it the perfect travel palette for me.

I also purchased theBalm Nude Dude Vol. 2 palette at the end of 2016 and used it for a while! I don't reach for it a lot, but the shades are gorgeous! Plus, it's such a cheeky palette, I think it's so hilarious. I haven't had this for that long, so there's plenty of time to dig into it and have some fun with the colors.

Next is the Becca Ombre Rouge Eye Palette. I'm not going to lie, I do regret purchasing this one. It was definitely an impulse buy on my part and I think I just should've passed. There's nothing really wrong with the formula or anything, I just never reach for it. I think the shades just don't look great on me and for the price, I probably could've put it towards an eye palette with more shades and that was better suited for my skin tone. I still test it out from time to time, but it's definitely not something I actively reach for.

And last, but certainly not least, my beloved Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. I love this little guy so much, clearly because the shades Faint and Crave combine perfectly for the ultimate eyebrow color for me. I do like the shades Walk of Shame (W.O.S) and Naked 2 as well, but this palette gets the most love from me when it comes to filling in the sparse areas of my brows. Which, as you could probably tell, is why this is one of my favorite palettes that I own!
