Trends I Can't Help But Love

Usually I'm ambivalent towards trends. On one hand, some of them can be pretty cool. On the other hand, I don't love how everyone is expected to follow these sort of seasonal guidelines like a herd of sheep, only to have them disappear a season later. There are pros and cons to everything, of course, but sometimes you just can't fight the trends. I'm not strong enough to ignore all of them. I'm just not! These are three of the trends that I tried to fight, but now I've welcomed them in my life with open arm and can't see myself going back (until they inevitably die out).

1. Mini buns

You know the mini buns. Everyone is doing it, both men and women, honestly. I love this hairstyle. I will admit it. It's perfect for a day when you still want to wear your hair down but don't want any pieces in your face. It's just a really fun and boho take on the classic half-up/half-down hairstyle. Literally all I do is grab a small section of hair on the top of my head and secure it into a small bun on the back of my head. I'll obviously do it a bit lower than I would do a normal bun so it's not just a random ball of hair sitting on the top of my head. This is especially nice for days when my hair is just a weird kinky texture and the front pieces don't look particularly nice.

2. Intense Highlights

I love a nice glow. I do. I could go on and on about how much I love highlighters but I'm fairly certain I've already done that at least twice on my blog in the past few weeks. So I'll spare everyone to pain of this section on yet another blog post. There are so many fun highlighters on the market today and everyone seems to be loving the glow life lately. I am right there with them waving around my iridescent face sparkle. I will pack on that highlight to get a nice glow. I'll do whatever I have to do to ensure that when the sun hits my cheekbones that it blinds whoever dares to look at me.

3. Mirrored Lenses

The only sunglasses (literally, I sold all of my other pairs) I wear today are my Quay silver mirrored lenses. Literally the only pair. Other than the fact that the shape suits my face insanely well, I just think that they are just the most fun lenses my eyes have ever seen. Obviously the Dior 'Dior So Real' sunglasses are practically everywhere nowadays. I swear, in order to be a fashion blogger you need to have a Givenchy Antigona bag and a pair of these glasses. It's a requirement. All jokes aside, I'm just loving this trend of mirrored lenses, whether they're silver or the fun colors like pink and blue (frequently seen on Ray-Bans). Plus, I swear they make every outfit look infinitely cooler. I wore an oversized t-shirt to the Indians game on Friday with a pair of slightly unflattering denim cut off shorts which would be an otherwise super boring outfit. But with the mirrored lenses I swear it turned into slightly cool. THEY'RE MAGIC, I SWEAR.

What trends can't you resist?
