Things I'm Loving

1. "It's You" by Zayn

Shocker, I have a new Zayn song on my favorites list. Listen, when he performed this for the first time on my love Jimmy Fallon's show a couple of weeks ago...I stayed up. I can't remember the last time I didn't just wait for a performance to show up online. I mean, granted, I didn't have cable at the apartment for a bit but still...my love for Zayn right now is skyrocketing and I cannot contain it. I go through weird phases with him, but my love for his voice will NEVER DEPLETE. So anyways, this beautiful angel (seriously, is Zayn Malik not The Most Beautiful Person On Earth™?) released a new song from his album, coming out on March 25th (#SAVAGE) and I have not been the same since.

2. i like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it by The 1975

And the award for longest album title goes to...Genuinely, this might be the first time I've ever referred to it by name and it might be the last. I just call it the new album from The 1975, also known as The Most Beautiful Sound On Earth (Other Than Zayn Malik's Voice)™. I kid, I kid, but this album is absolutely fantastic. It sounds a lot more like the first album than I would've thought after singles like "Love Me" and "UGH!" but I'm not upset about it. There's a lot of instrumental bits and interludes that give me life. I am a huge instrumental person when it comes to music at the moment. It helps me focus and I usually limit myself to listening to movie scores while I'm doing work, but now I can listen to music with lyrics! How exciting!

But in all seriousness, this album is a wonderful mishmash of synths and riffs and lyrics that rip my heart straight out of my chest. I've listened to it at least three times a day since its release and I don't see things changing for a while. They even strip it down to the bare bones at the end of the album, going completely acoustic for "She Lays Down." By that point, I'm already on the floor, really.

To listen to: "She's American," "Somebody Else," "The Sound," "Loving Someone," "Paris," and "She Lays Down."

3. Wet n Wild Felt Tip Eyeliner

RIP again to my Kat Von D liquid liner. I've gone through yet another tube of that and I really didn't want to make a trip out to Sephora to get myself a new one. Plus, I didn't want to drop money on another tube before I went to New York. If anything, I'd pick a new one up there or just stick to whatever one I picked up to replace it. And now it's looking like I won't need a new tube after all.

Basically, my goal when I walked into Rite Aid was to just find myself the cheapest one. I knew I liked the Maybelline felt tip liquid liner that I picked up the last time I ran out of eyeliner and had no money. Unfortunately, they were sold out and I was running a bit late to work. Instead of scouring the whole makeup section for a felt tip liquid liner (I feel like there aren't a lot of these in the drugstore, correct me if I'm wrong though), I grabbed the first one I saw on display and called it a day. I've always heard good things about Wet n Wild's products (I have an eyeshadow quad and a lipstick from the range!), so I figured I'd be fine with my choice. And lo and behold, I love it so far! I've only been wearing it for this week, but I haven't had any issues with fading, running, or cracking off. I get a nice precise line with it and can flick my wing out pretty easily. It's a short liner pen, so I don't know how long it'll last me (I'll keep track though), but if you're in a pinch and need a good liquid eyeliner from the drugstore, consider this one! Plus, I think there are other colors as well so if you want to experiment with colored line, check this one out.

4. MAC Soft and Gentle MSF

I've been alternating between my Becca Opal highlighter and my other ones as of late. I tend to get into the habit of using the same products over and over and over again, which is good, but at the same time I want some variety in my life! I have more makeup than most people might (don't get me wrong, it's not huge, but I have more than I need) and neglecting products just makes my collection seem like it's going to waste. Out of all of my other highlighters (other than Opal) I've been reaching for Soft and Gentle the most. It just gives me the most gorgeous warm glow to the tops of my cheeks! It's not as intense of a glow as the Becca highlighter, but it's probably my second most pigmented one in my collection. I use it for days when I just want some low-key makeup (she says as if she doesn't wear winged eyeliner and bold lipstick every day) or if my skin isn't looking terrible. I tend to use a lot more blush and highlighter on days where my skin is just blah.

5. Mashed Potatoes & Broccoli

A bit of a weird favorite, but a favorite nonetheless. As you might know, I have an obsession with edamame and figured I might as well expand my horizons and tack on another green vegetable to join. It really all stemmed from the fact that back around Thanksgiving, my family and I went to a steakhouse and with my meal I got a side of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli and it was delicious. I have legitimately been thinking about this meal since and the last time I went grocery shopping, I decided to act on this reoccurring thought. And my god, does this meal not make the most incredible side/snack. If I'm hungry, I just pop my broccoli and mashed potatoes into the microwave and less than ten minutes later, I can munch away on it. It's super filling too, which is wonderful!
