Moving Out

Despite the gorgeous cherry blossoms and fresh blooms in gardens and on trees, yesterday was not as cheery as my Instagram. It was move out day, or, moving out everything that I possibly can into my mom's car and into the apartment so that I have just a suitcase and my Kate Spade bags to take home on Saturday. My mom came up to help me (#THANKGOD) and to hang out for the entire day...which didn't exactly happen.

As far as the actual packing and moving out portion, that went incredibly well. There's really not that much left over in my room. All of my clothes and makeup are gone and we got everything to fit into her Jeep. I didn't have a full on meltdown like I did last year (funny story...) nor were any tears shed in general. It's just always a weird feeling packing up your entire life, sending it off 200 miles away, and then walking back up into your empty suite where you will stay alone for the next two nights (well, not it's only one more night). My roommate moved out yesterday and most of my floor appears to be gone...it's just very weird.

While moving out wasn't that terrible, everything else that could have gone wrong did. And by everything I just mean my car, Esteban, had a little hiccup. I noticed on Wednesday when I was driving my roommates over to the apartment that he was overheating. I thought nothing of it. I called my mom, listened to what she told me to do (other than not drive it in general because I had to get back to the dorms somehow) in the meantime, and waited for her to come the next day with antifreeze. My car was insanely low on antifreeze (AKA there was none in it) so we thought we would fill in the overflow thingymagig (my knowledge of cars is nonexistent) and it would be fine. Turns out, there could be a leak in my hose? I don't know. We had to bring it to an auto shop downtown yesterday and they're going to look at it and make the diagnosis this morning.

So the whole car thing was definitely a seriously mood killer yesterday, though one easily fixed by Chick-fil-A and a Gilmore Girls marathon. Let's just pray my little Esteban gets fixed today!

In more happy sad news, I only have two more days of work left before I leave for the summer, which I am insanely sad about. I'm going to miss it so much, I cannot even put it into words. On the other hand, I also cannot put into words how excited I am to be home for the summer. I'll probably complain a lot about wishing I was living in the apartment with my friends and living in Cleveland, but it'll probably be a lie, or at least a partial lie. I am excited to go home and be with my family again. I'm still a teenage girl who needs her big, crazy family in her life!

  1. Congrats on the move! I’ve learned that no matter how small, or organized a move is, there is always some stress or unexpected things that happen. Wish you all the best!
