Maybelline Baby Lips (Pink Punch and Cherry Me)

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

On a recent venture to Target (I make these almost weekly) I picked up two of Maybelline's Baby Lips chapsticks because I've heard only good things and have been going through a recent obsession with tinted lip products. So sue me (actually, I'd prefer that you not).

Travel Makeup Kit

Monday, July 30, 2012

Hi! So, I've decided to show you guys what I bring on me for small weekend trips in my makeup bag! I've recently gone to Pittsburgh and Lake George on, so it seemed appropriate to show what I've been packing for a short weekend trip! This is quite different than what I would bring on a longer trip that is four or more days (like my upcoming trip to Chicago in August or my trip to Spain in the late winter).

I don't wear much makeup in the summer anyways, but my trip this past weekend was just to a softball tournament and last weekend I was watching baseballs games all weekend. Needless to say, those two don't require much glamming up. Regardless, here is what I pack give or take an eyeshadow or two.

My bag is from the Sonia Kashuk line at Target, though I got it at the beginning of the school year to use as a pencil case so I'm not quite sure if they have them anymore.

Here's a quick sneak-peek of the inside! I've separated the pictures into to separate sections: Face and eye, to make it a bit more simple.

NOTD: Essie's 'Meet Me At Sunset'

Sunday, July 29, 2012

I picked up this color at Target a few days ago because I'm going through this phase where when I want to paint my nails I have to buy a totally new color. I call it the "I Finally Have A Job To Back Up My Obsession". I'm over it.

Anyways, I picked up this and Tart Deco (expect a future post on that). Meet Me At Sunset is a very orange based red. It comes off very similar to OPI's 'Cajun Shrimp' CS is much more red.

Smith's Strawberry Salve

Saturday, July 28, 2012

My cousin had gotten me a tube of Smith's Rosebud Salve which I loved and gave me the "my lip color but better" look, so I decided that I should get the tin of the Strawberry salve. This was the best decision of my life.

MAC All That Glitters

Friday, July 27, 2012

In the same trip to Pittsburgh this past weekend, I also picked up my first MAC eyeshadow. I was stuck between Gleam and All That Glitters but I decided to go with the cult favorite on this one. I've been looking for this color for a good two years, but I've had no such luck...mostly because I refused to ask for help at the MAC counters. Ask if you can't find it!!!

Can I just say how much I adore MAC's packaging? The black looks so sleek. That is the one thing that attracts me to brands like MAC and Nars; the sleek black packaging. It is to die for.

As for the actual eyeshadow itself, the color payoff is great. There didn't seem to be too much fallout, though you should always use a base with your shadows to prevent fallout/keep prolong the wear time.

Music Affairs, Vol. One: July Jams

Thursday, July 26, 2012

If there is one thing you have to know about me, it is that I am completely and utterly obsessed with music. I’m an avid listener and analyzer (self-proclaimed, at least). I know how to take the time to enjoy it and I know how to pick it apart into styles, dynamics, tempos, etcetera.

I’ve grown up learning to love the scene and everything about music. This blog isn’t all about makeup. It’s about my interests and music happens to be a big one.

Once a month (or maybe more) I’m going to list a few songs that I’ve been consistently enjoying and why. Maybe I’ll give more songs of theirs or songs like that one. Maybe I’ll do themed posts.

I hope you like these posts as much as I like making them.

For the month of July, since it is almost over, I’ve got a few songs that I seem to be coming back to.

1.    “To Be Beside You” by Gemma Hayes

I stumbled upon this song by accident on iTunes one day. On my homepage, I get a list of ten or so songs that relate to recent purchases and this song so happened to be one of them. Instantly, after about thirty seconds of the preview I knew I had to buy it.

I love the acoustic, soulful sound she created. I’m a sucker for most soft sounding songs. Gemma has a very unique voice with just enough rasp to catch your attention but not enough to truly grate your ears.

The lyrics, though slightly repetitive (in a good way, most likely to emphasize the emotion) are incredibly beautiful, especially because of how they’re delivered. Her voice portrays the longing for someone. I’ve just loved this song for late nights or rainy days. I think it’s quite relatable as well.

2.    “Work of Art” by Rachel Platten

If you’re an ABC Family junkie like me, you’ll recognize the chorus of this song (or maybe the incredible talent behind it) from the show Jane By Design. I have a soft spot for fashion and that showed just got me hooked. Anyways, this song is the theme song and I think it’s so fun! It has a steady beat in the background that sets the upbeat tempo. Rachel has a lovely voice and some of her other songs (“1,000 Ships” especially) remind me of a more pop-rooted Regina Spektor. The song is very fun and I think it’s very cute!

MAC Rubenesque Paintpot

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

This weekend, I got a chance to stop by the MAC Counter at a Macy's in Pittsburgh while on vacation. After an entire armfull of swatches, I decided on getting the paintpot in Rubenesque and my first MAC eyeshadow, the ever famous All That Glitters (swatches coming soon).
I don't own that many MAC products (just an MSF and Painterly paintpot), so it was kind of a big step to dive into getting two more products. I'm somewhat frugal with my money when it comes to makeup but I decided to just splurge and enjoy it. So far, I do!
During the summer (and to be honest, most of the school year), I'm a little too lazy to actually do my makeup so this paintpot gives me a complete eye look with one quick swoop of my ring finger.

Benefit's Posietint

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

The color is a very pale pink. It's one of those my lip color but better looks. I've been wearing this non-stop for almost a week now and I don't plan on stopping. The color is amazing and it lasts through thick and thin.

NOTD: OPI's 'I Eat Mainely Lobster'

Monday, July 23, 2012

I picked up this color on a recent trip to Target on a whim. It's a deep coral. It slightly resembles 'Coral Reef' from the Sally Hansen except it has a slight and very fine glitter if the light catches it the right way and has much more red to it. Also, the application and drying time is much, much better. In my opinion, the five to six dollar difference is completely worth it to me.

About a Girl

Hi! I'm Francesca, a teenager who likes to spend all of her spare change on anything beauty related with the occasional Vitamin Water (Kiwi-Strawberry only!) and newest issue of Elle or Nylon. Other than that, my collection is growing.
As a summer project, I decided that having a steady blog about something interesting and not my life (because honestly, nothing really goes on with that very often...) would be something fun to do! So for summer 2012, I'm starting a beauty related blog that may include fashion and music and anything that might be somewhat interesting to other people.
I personally love music, reading, makeup and Joe Jonas way too much so that's mainly what's going to be on here. If you don't like those things...well...then why are you here? ;) Kidding, kidding. I love you. I always love using the word love. Yeah, I'm that ass that people hate.
Rambling is my favorite thing to do hence this super long introduction that didn't have to be this long.
I'll probably do swatches, reviews, and all that other fun jazz on this. It's all for fun, right?
Hope you enjoy!
